Freeze Damage

Trimming Freeze Damaged Oleanders –
 
Only water your freeze damaged oleanders for the first 2 weeks. At the 3rd week, scrape the branches from the end toward the center until you find green inside the branch. Cut at this level and discard the non-green. If it’s a large oleander with damage very low to the ground, it may be quicker to saw the trunks off about 8” from the ground. This will result in a better shaped plant at the end of summer.

Below is a photo of a trimmed oleander and you can see the new chutes growing.  Some new growth may not appear for a few months later so don’t give up early and assume it is dead.
